Anyone here know what the domain page.link is used for and/or who it’s managed by? It’s some sort of analytics.

In my quest to educate people about the dangers of QR codes I’m following the trail for a QR code directed at children on Swedish milk cartons.

The QR code (with the text “want to see something fun?”) resolves to a bit.ly link, which then resolves to a page.link which then redirects to a campaign website under the marketing agency’s domain name, rather than the child protection agency that is the owner of the campaign.

QR code -> bit.ly/briscoop -> brisar.page.link -> bris.frankfam.co

So they’re essentially teaching kids to dismiss the importance of verifying the sender of the information.

Scan our QR code, it will be fun!

Never mind how the phrase “Want to see something fun?” brings to mind grubby men in trenchcoats.

Hoping I’ll have time for a blog post this evening.
