@markwyner @ai6yr I also use DuckDuckGo. This does the same as the DuckDuckGo embed - if you open the link in a browser or session where you are not logged into YouTube. I built it explicitly for sharing YouTube videos as I don’t want to force tracking on anyone when sharing a link.

The benefit of the page is that it doesn’t load the video until the user specifically requests it. this allows anyone to open the link instead in an incognito window for example. It uses the youtube-nocookie domain which prevents cookies but doesn’t really prevent the user from being tracked if you’re logged into YouTube. It does prevent personalised ads, it does not add to viewing history, and the recommended videos at the end can only be shown for the same channel that is already linked.

It’s also a much calmer viewing experience :)

So it’s privacy-enhanced, but not privacy-perfect.
