@grymt I think YouTube for me symbolises the polar opposite of what I love about the qualities of podcasting as it emerged: the open format (RSS) that allows free, decentralised distribution and freedom from surveillance. So directing people to a surveillance-ridden website (which I fully understand is often non-intentional) when recommending a ”podcast”, just shatters everything that I hoped podcasting would continue to be.

But yeah, I’m old and idealistic. And I do feel the same way for example about Spotify when it comes to podcasting.
